1000 MHz GPU for the 7970 Damn that thing is gonna run hot. I really hope that AMD have a better cooling solution than their current 6970's. Mine was so loud it woke my partner up at 1:15am whilst I was playing Metro 2033.

I love AMD, I really do but I've gone green this time around and I may go green the next time. Roll on the benchmarks

well if the numbers are real, then at 190TDP it will be significantly cooler than the 6970 though i totally agree, amd need to get rid of those silly dremel like radial fans and release good quality reference cooling.

Thing is, even the blower type cooler on my GTX570 is quiet so I can't see how AMD can't make a good one.

"Besides the launch of AMD Bulldozer and Intel Sandy Bridge-E we are eagerly awaiting the first graphics cards with GPUs built on the new 28nm node. NVIDIA has already confirmed that its first graphics cards built on 28nm will come in 2012 and we can now confirm that the same applies to AMD. The reason is because the HD 6000 series is still in high demand.

The new cards from AMD and NVIDIA at 28nm are anticipated by many, but none of the companies are near to release cards. NVIDIA has confirmed that it will not launch any products on 28nm this year, but wait until early 2012.

We have now acquired information that says the same about AMD. The launch has been moved from 2011 to 2012 due to high demand for the HD 6000 series, and capacity problems. AMD has been having capacity problems over the last months for HD 6000, which has led to orders from OEM manufacturers and distribution channels have been stacking up. It also says that the HD 6000 series is hardly a year old and there is no rush to introduce the HD 7000 at the present day."

I'd much rather them do this than to do what NVIDIA (and to a lesser extent AMD/ATI) do and release a re-hash of graphics cards from the parts bin of a previous generation and claim it to be 'new'.

It's understandable to have 1000MHz stock as most AMD cards are capable of that with aftermarket cooling even with the current architecture. Like has been stated though, they really need to sort their coolers out. Something along the lines of GIGABYTE's Windforce or MSI Twin Frozr design seem to work very well and are also very quiet. PErsonally I'd rather pay the little extra and have a cool quiet card than a hot, noisy one!
