We take a look at one of Samsung's 470 Series SATA 2 - 3Gbps Solid State Drives and find out whether it can hold up well against the opposition.

Nice SSD considering it's SATA 2, but the price is a bit high.

good looking drive imho, bit on the expensive side, prefer two smaller 128GB version.

They are a bit expensive but Samsung reliability is known to be one of the best when it comes to SSD, hence Apple using them for the Air range.

Samsung's new SSD controller looks interesting but I don't think it can compete with 2nd gen cacheless SandForce chips. 3rd gen Intel controllers can be a rival.

On the package the sum of read and write speeds is written as read+write speed to deceive the consumers. This can be the new "GB/Gbit" trick.

I had a look at its review on AnandTech. They are pretty good, competitive but also expensive drives, but aren't available on the market yet. All come with a full copy of Norton Ghost. This is a good addition. Nevertheless, first gen SandForce based drives seem a better choice than Samsung 470 and 2nd gen SF based ones than Samsung 830.
